Reap and Visa announced a collaboration on September 24, 2026 to bring stablecoin-linked credit-card programs to more than 100 markets. The release published by Payward describes an expansion of Reap’s issuing infrastructure beyond its existing regions, subject to local requirements.

The stated geographic reach is the collaboration’s target. It should not be read as confirmation that every program is already available in every listed region.

Stablecoins fund the card program

The proposed infrastructure lets partner businesses build card programs with stablecoins used for funding, collateral or repayment, according to the announcement. Reap supplies elements including processing, program operations and compliance infrastructure.

That does not require the shop accepting the card to receive tokens. The funding asset, card authorization and merchant settlement can be separate parts of the payment.

Our crypto-card explainer follows those stages and explains why a familiar checkout can sit on top of a different funding arrangement.

Settlement and future capabilities

The release also identifies Reap as a participant in Visa’s stablecoin settlement program in Asia Pacific. It describes blockchain settlement of obligations between Reap and Visa as a way to move beyond traditional banking-hour constraints.

Other capabilities are still described as plans or areas of exploration. These include additional stablecoin currencies and payment arrangements involving AI agents acting within user-defined limits.

The announcement does not establish universal support for a particular token, network or customer type. Those details depend on individual programs and their terms.

For businesses evaluating the development, the practical questions are where a program can launch, what funding assets it accepts and how conversion and settlement work. A network-wide merchant-acceptance figure does not answer those product-specific questions.

Questions

Are all 100-plus markets already live?

The release describes a collaboration targeting that reach, subject to local requirements.

Must merchants accept stablecoins directly?

Not necessarily. Card funding and merchant payout can use different assets.

Are AI-agent payments already part of every program?

The announcement describes agentic capabilities as an area to explore, not universal current availability.
