Payward and Ledger announced a partnership on September 24, 2026 covering signing, trading access and wallet services. The Payward release describes several integrations planned around Kraken, Ledger Wallet and institutional services.

The announcement combines multiple workstreams. It should not be read as evidence that every described integration is already available to every user.

Signing and wallet access

Under the announced arrangement, Kraken customers will be able to use a Ledger signer within the Kraken experience, with integration built using Ledger’s Device Management Kit and support for Clear Signing.

Separately, Payward Services is set to become a buy, sell and swap provider inside Ledger Wallet. The release describes an initial focus on debit-card and bank-transfer support in Europe and the UK, followed by potential expansion to other payment methods and regions.

These are different functions. A device can authorize an action while a service provider supplies the trading or payment infrastructure around it.

Tokenized assets and institutions

The companies also say they are working on deeper integration of xStocks within Ledger Wallet. Another part of the partnership concerns connecting Ledger Enterprise users with Payward’s institutional infrastructure.

The release presents these as collaboration and integration plans. Product eligibility, geographical restrictions, available assets and custody arrangements still require service-specific documentation.

Self-custody and access to a trading platform should not be treated as a single custody state. A user needs to know where an asset is held before, during and after a transaction, and what permissions are being granted.

Our smart-wallet control guide explains why signing, recovery and upgrade authority are separate questions. Hardware-backed signing can be one component of that picture without answering every question about the surrounding service.

Questions

Are all integrations already available?

The release announces several workstreams; it does not establish universal availability of every feature.

Which regions are named for initial wallet payment support?

The release specifies Europe and the UK for the initial debit-card and bank-transfer focus.

Does hardware signing answer every custody question?

No. Users still need to examine the asset’s location and the permissions granted to each service.
